Dr. Sergio Castano-Convers is a medical doctor, healthcare quality advocate, and business leader with a Master of Business Administration (MBA). His work combines clinical expertise, healthcare quality, and strategic leadership to advance patient safety and improve health outcomes.

Current Role and Leadership Experience:

He currently serves as Global Medical Safety Officer for Latin America at Johnson & Johnson MedTech. During his career with the company, he has held leadership roles across Medical Affairs, Health Economics and Market Access, Quality, and Regulatory Affairs in Latin America.

Before joining Johnson & Johnson, Dr. Castano served as Information Director at Centro de Gestión Hospitalaria, now known as Organización Excelencia para la Salud (OES). From 2001 to 2013, he was President of the Board of the Colombian Medical Device Chamber (ANDI), and he has also served on several boards of directors.

Academic Contributions:

Dr. Castano has contributed to postgraduate education as a professor of Clinical Quality, Healthcare Finance, and Healthcare Marketing at several universities in Colombia. He has also authored books and numerous academic articles.
